An ensemble of excellence! Juan Mejia, Emily Chao, Laura Cásarez and Raphael Lizama return to the Opera House as members of the Benderly String Quartet, with a thrilling program featuring the two movement String Quartet #1 in G Major by Florence Price. Born in 1887, she was the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer. Her music was rediscovered in 2009 when a substantial number of her works were found in her abandoned summer home. Felix Mendelssohn ‘s String Quartet #2 in A minor follows with four lyrical,exuberant and intensely passionate movements that distinguish his remarkable genius.
