SCFPA and the Patagonia Creative Arts Association invite you to enjoy a special two-part event – a presentation of the 2017 documentary – “Chavela” on Friday, August 4th at 8 PM and a concert featuring SabroSON! on Sunday, August 6th at 7. Both events will be held in the Opera House Courtyard.
Chavela, the documentary, is an unfiltered look at the unconventional life of beloved Chavela Vargas (1919-2012), whose passionate renditions of Mexican popular music and triumphant concerts late in life brought her international fame.
Using her unique voice she broke existing social norms by wearing pants, smoking cigars, drinking tequila and singing love songs to women. After years lost to chronic alcoholism, tumultuous relationships and heartbreak, she returned to the stage with sell out performances, earning a Lifetime Achievement Grammy.

Popular Mexican music re-appears with a contemporary flair in the unique sound of SabroSON, and the concert becomes a captivating immersion into the world of Mexican song. An amazing duo, Martin Marquez and Adrian Perez spice up traditional Mexican folk music, expertly blending the sounds of the guitar and the Mexican folk harp with modern twists and creative interpretations to create a truly unforgettable experience.
The movie begins at 8 on Friday and the concert starts at 7 on Sunday. Buy your tickets online at the special combo price of $20 for both events.
If you can’t join us for both, individual tickets ($5 for the movie and $20 for the concert) will be available at the gate.
