Duo Yvapurû with guest artist Andrés Pantoja
by Deb Klosterman –
Maxi Larrea returned to the Benderly-Kendall Opera House, along with Jennie Gubner and Andrés Pantoja, to take us on a musical journey through South America.
Music by South American composers, played on smooth guitar, spirited violin, and spicy charango, led us from the mountain highlands to the river lowlands. We traveled through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Columbia. The violin became a bird; the charango, the wind.
Our travels were accented with South American love songs sung by the husband and wife duo of Maxi Larrea and Jennie Gubner.
The audience was delighted by the trip. I am hoping for a future tour!
