In April we welcomed back violinist Emily Chao and pianist Yasmin Alami. Yasmin traveled from Jordan to be here for this performance and we are so grateful to have heard her wonderful musicianship once more at the Benderly-Kendall Opera House.

The duo’s program consisted of music by Rebecca Clark, Jennifer Higdon, Amanda Maier, as well as solo works by Alberto Ginastera and Georg Philipp Telemann.

The centerpiece of the program, the Sonata in B Minor by the late-romantic Swedish composer Amanda Maier deserves to be among the most often played violin/piano sonatas but unfortunately is seldomly performed.

It was a wonderful treat to have this rich and dramatic work performed so beautiful by Emily and Yasmin.
