The Artist and the Kids

By Juanito Pascual –

An absolute joy being with these 5th graders yesterday morning from Patagonia Elementary School. They are part of a year-long science program that will culminate in them building and performing music on their own instruments!

They had many, many great questions, and lots of interest in seeing inside the guitar to see a bit about how it’s all put together. When I told the kids that bone is used for saddle (where strings contact the bridge) one student said “I knew cows fed our stomachs but I didn’t know they could feed our ears.”

Thank you again to the SCFPA Opera House for this wonderful opportunity. I’m excited to see what they come up with at the end of the year!
