One, there was no monsoon so we could enjoy a wonderful concert outdoors on a lovely evening.  Two, listening to the quintet was a total pleasure.  Their selection of music was well-chosen and surprisingly varied, including a selection from Renaissance composers, classical favorites from Wagner and Brahms, and marches from Sousa and Holst.  “Suite Recife” by Duda, a Brazilian was lively and fun.  Sprinkled in the program were five traditional pieces, which were all familiar, but somehow seemed different, being played by this all brass quintet.  Their rendition of “Just a Closer Walk”, done New Orleans style was a favorite and “Danny Boy” was hauntingly beautiful.

The Tucson based quintet, with Betsy Bright (trumpet), Jason Carder (trumpet), Victor Valenzuela (horn), Joseph Munoz (trombone) and David Morgan (tuba) all had interesting stories to tell and expressed how much they love to come to Patagonia to play, so let’s hope we can have them again soon.  They are a “must hear”!
