Hailed as “the most shining rising star who has the ability to blend her “artistic sensibilities with unparalleled musical charm”, highly acclaimed Chinese violinist Yue Sun and internationally known pianist and conductor Eduard Zilberkant, journey from Alaska where they reside as faculty members of the University of Fairbanks, to bring us a unique program of musical styles.
The concert begins in the 19th century with Beethoven’s Sonata No. 3 in E-flat major, then transitions to the 21st century with two contemporary works for solo violin; “Three High Places”, musical miniatures of three moments and places in Alaska, by John Luther Adams and “Rhapsody”, a free form expression of the technical possibilities of the violin, written by Craig Coray, composer, ethnomusicologist and resident of Patagonia. Ending this musical time journey is the Sonata #3 in D minor by Brahms.
